Blurb:
When her parents choose a gruff, battle-hardened admiral as her mate and give her no say at all in the matter, twenty-one-year-old Princess Gael does not hesitate to make her displeasure known. Despite her protests, however, her old-fashioned yet undeniably sexy husband-to-be wastes no time in taking her over his knee and baring her bottom for a painful, embarrassing spanking when she defies him during an ancient ceremony intended to celebrate their union.
Fleet Admiral Kai Grenville has no doubt that taming his beautiful, feisty new mate will be a battle, but it is a battle he intends to win. If that means paddling Gael’s beautiful backside bright red with her panties stuffed in her mouth to teach her what happens to sassy mates, then so be it.
Though she does her best to remain indignant about her situation and Kai’s willingness to chastise her as often and as shamefully as he feels it necessary, Gael cannot deny her body’s response to his dominance, and when he claims her the pleasure is more intense than she would have thought possible. But with a plague ravaging their world and Gael’s reckless behavior putting her in danger, can Kai find a way to conquer her heart while also keeping her safe?
This standalone novel has a satisfying ending and can be read as a standalone or as part of the series.

Excerpt :

On the writing desk in Kai’s chamber lay a gift package. Wrapped in pale blue silk and tied with a midnight blue ribbon, it was clearly paddle-shaped. Paddles were a common joining gift in Senne. They were sold in shops along with binding ribbons and other ceremonial keepsakes. Gael knew that some couples treated them as a joke, leaving them in a drawer with pretty garters and other souvenirs. She’d seen some proudly displayed on mantelpieces beside family photos. But she never thought anyone would have the audacity to give her one. She didn’t often use her title and position to avoid unpleasantness, but she would have now if she could.
Kai handed it to her and the weight of it made her catch her breath. It was exactly what she feared. She read the small tag that hung from the midnight blue ribbon. To Princess Gael and Admiral Kai with every good wish for a happy union.
“You may open it,” he said, watching her intensely.
With an enormous effort she forced her demeanor to remain neutral, not wanting the dread surging through her to register on her face. “Who is it from?” she asked, grateful that her hands weren’t shaking as she undid the bow.
“You’ve seen the tag. You know as much as I do. My guess is that it must be from someone close to you, someone who knows how difficult it’s going to be for you to settle into a joined life for four years.” The corners of his mouth lifted in a knowing smile.
Gael stared at his resolute, unreadable face, wondering how she would manage for the duration of their mateship. Four years. That’s how long the vows would bind them. It might as well be forever.
When the silk fell away, she held a long-handled ochre-colored paddle. One side of the round head was decorated with Celtic knots. The other side had the words naughty girl carved into it backwards. She puzzled over it, tracing the letters with her index finger.
“It’s written in reverse so that when it’s properly used, at length and on the same spot, those words will be paddled into your backside.” Kai said coolly.
Gael shoved the package at him, trying to step away.
He caught her by the wrist and his huge hand engulfed hers. Once again, his muscular fingers imprisoned her wrist as effectively as an iron manacle. She was helpless against his superior strength. Worse still, the memory of how those powerful hands had lit her backside on fire and drenched her pussy weakened her at the knees.
“Don’t make your fate any worse that it is already,” he said, his voice soft.
Gael looked around the room, wide-eyed, as if an escape portal might magically appear.
Kai nodded at the paddle. “This is a fine gift. We must use it immediately for good luck.” He sat on the end of the bed, drawing her close to him.

Libby Campbell in her own words:
My romance novels feature strong, self-reliant women and the powerful men who love them. Romantic by nature, I write the stories I want to read: those that feature a spicy power exchange and deliver a sting in the tale.
Canadian by birth, I also lived in Australia for a couple of decades. While living there I overcame my aversion to saucer-sized spiders and, as a condition of marriage to my Aussie Prince Charming, I swore a lifelong allegiance to the Melbourne Football Club.
Then family called and my husband and I packed up and moved. We now live on a rocky island on Canada’s West Coast, close to beaches that once were frequented by smugglers and rumrunners.
My passions are reading and writing. I adore all animals and love hiking, beachcombing, and an occasional night of dancing.

Question and answers with Libby Campbell

This series seems to be darker than anything you’ve written before. Is it a new trend for you?

Yes and no. The series does have more sex and BDSM play but, like all my books, the erotica is underscored by caring relationships that build to great love.
I enjoy tracing the evolution of power-exchange relationships founded on trust, trial and error, love and laugher.

What was your inspiration for Bound to the Admiral?

In 2018 my husband and I toured the Washington and Oregon coasts. I fell in love with the beautiful lighthouses that dot that coastline. They were all so different but symbolized hope and safety to ships at sea.
Plus they kind of reminded me of tiny castles and I love princess stories. Before I knew it, an entire series was shaping in my imagination and demanding to be written.

Does this book have a playlist?

I rarely play music when I’m writing but one song I listened to a lot while writing this book was Rachel D’Arcy’s song Dance for You. I love the line “I won’t dance for anyone, but I will dance for you.” It’s Gael’s song! It’s available here: Amazon.
I also watched a lot of belly dancing by the amazing Cassandra Fox.

What is the best part of writing?

When a reader enjoys a book enough to review it! It says we connected and that’s the greatest satisfaction a writer can have.

What is the hardest part?

Trying to convince my husband that I’m not writing instruction manuals.
I read all my books aloud to him because he is a supportive listener and has an excellent memory for details that are easy to trip over as the narrative grows.
He laughs in all the right places, and tenses in the action scenes, all of which is encouraging in the moments of self-doubt that plague every project.

Saturday Spankings - Alternative to spanking

Happy Saturday! I’m glad you’ve come back for more Saturday Spankings. I’m going to do a few more snippets from Searching for Home and they go to my other books for a while.

As usual the girls all managed to get in trouble together and while doing so,  ruffle Lily’s feathers as well.

Lily noted, without sympathy, that Cassie, Sue and Jenny eased into their chairs at the table, but when she saw Allie seeming to sit with hesitation too, her anger flared again.
“You best not be tellin’ me you got a whippin’ and you with broke ribs!” Lily snapped.
“No,” Allie hastily assured her. “Ryan fussed about us going and not telling him and he said I probably deserved a spanking, but he wasn’t going do any spanking until I was all healed up. But then he, well…” She seemed a bit embarrassed. “He was putting that strong heat cream on my ribs, like he’s been doing every night and he decided it might be a good way to warm my butt without hurting my ribs. Okay, fine. But then he decide it needed another dose this morning. Damn, you can feel that crap for hours!”
The others grimaced in sympathy, all except Lily. She gave out a whoop and then bent double, laughing. “That the best thing I ever heard!” she cackled. “I think all y’alls men should start doin’ that! I don’t have to worry ‘bout y’all gettin’ a whippin’ and you get your butts burn anyway! They all need to do it ever’ mornin’!”
Lily walked back into the kitchen, still laughing. The women ignored her and turned to the fresh baked muffins. They were content that Lily’s good humor was restored.

Brandr : A Viking Warrior Romance (Viking Surender #2) by Ashe Barker

Forced to wed the fierce Viking warlord in order to save her people, Eithne has no choice but to surrender to her powerful and terrifying husband. She submits to his stern discipline, but his tenderness takes her breath away. A man of his word, Brandr means to keep his side of their bargain and will see her village safe and protected from their enemies. But what of Eithne? Who will protect her as she learns to care for this ferocious man who now leads her people and holds her heart in his mighty hands?

Excerpt from The Prologue

“We shall not surrender, nor shall we flee…. this is an unequal contest, and we cannot win. To take up arms against men such as them would lead to certain death.”
“Better to die with honour—”
“Better still not to die at all. I have another idea. We shall negotiate.”
Rhiannon gaped at her. “Are you quite mad? You would have more success seeking to bargain with a wildcat, or that wolf which Ailsa insists upon keeping.”
“They are men, not animals. They will listen to reason.”
“That is a matter of opinion. I still say—”
“For once, Rhiannon, please, just do as you are told. Put down that weapon and go hide with the others. I shall go and speak with these…these…Norsemen.”
“You are bent on this madness?”
“It is the only way…”
“Then, if you insist upon facing them, I shall be at your side. I consider this a foolhardy notion, but I will not let you go alone.”
Despite Rhiannon’s belligerent tone, Eithne had never been more pleased to have her at her side. Theirs was not an easy relationship, it never had been, but Eithne loved her sister by marriage and was proud of her courage. “Ah, my sister. I see your father in you, and your brother. I shall be glad to have you with me, but by all that is holy, you must keep quiet and let me do the talking.” Eithne turned and dashed towards the path leading down into the narrow cove where the Vikings’ ships already swooped in towards the beach. “And put that damned sword away before someone gets hurt.”
“You are muttering to yourself. What are you saying?” Rhiannon scrambled behind Eithne down the cliff path.
“I am trying to recall a few words of Norse. There were Nordic settlers close to my childhood home on Orkney, and I picked up a few phrases. I thought if I were to greet them cordially…”
“You imagine you might resolve this situation by wishing them a pleasant morning and discussing the weather?”
Eithne did not blame Rhiannon for being incredulous. She could barely believe it herself. But if words were to be her weapons, she would do her best to assemble the best ones.
They emerged from the path onto the sand and shingle, at the same instant that the leading dragon ship swept onto the beach. Already the first of the warriors were leaping over the sides into the surf, wading ashore.
“Wait here,” Eithne commanded. “And say nothing.”
She stepped forward. Alone.

Excerpt from Brandr

She lay still and allowed his teasing, his gentle knowing, but she flinched and let out a sharp hiss when he pinched her nipple. The bud had hardened under his ministrations, poking against the fabric of her shift, begging to be squeezed.
He leaned over her, his weight on one elbow.
“Take this off,” he commanded.
“I…”
“Take it off. I would have you naked in our bed. Always.”
“Yes, Viking,” she murmured and knelt to draw the garment over her head. She clutched it, briefly, in front of her breasts, then tossed it to one side and raised her chin to meet his gaze.
Odin’s teeth, but she is beautiful.Brandr bit back a groan, then cupped her face between both his hands. He brushed his mouth over hers and was rewarded when she parted her lips for him. Slowly, cautiously, she raised her hands to rest them on his shoulders as he deepened the kiss. His tongue dived deep, curling, dancing with hers. Her hair was loose and fell across his hands in silky, ebony waves, then spread over the mattress as he eased her back onto the pallet.
Brandr supported his own weight on his elbows and continued to kiss her. Eithne writhed under him. She tunnelled her elegant fingers through his loosened locks and twisted the strands around her small fist as though she was afraid to let go. He broke the kiss, but only for a moment before shifting to fasten his lips around one pebbled nipple.
Eithne arched and let out a cry. Brandr sucked, scraped the sensitive bud with his teeth, then sucked harder. She wriggled and squirmed against him so, encouraged, he shifted to the other breast, at the same time using his fingers to roll and squeeze the slick, swollen nub he had abandoned.
“Viking,” she muttered, then, “Brandr.” Her voice rose as she cried out his given name.
Her arousal built, stoked as much by her fear and anxiety, her relief, perhaps, at having found a protector, and the sensation long denied since the loss of her husband. Brandr cared not what lay at the root of her surrender, but he would exploit the factors at his disposal. He reached down with his hand, stroking the soft mound of her stomach, then parting the soft wisps of hair which guarded her entrance.
Despite her obvious pleasure in his touch, she stiffened. He paused, but only for a moment, enough to allow her to accept, to comply.
He would not force her, though she was not to know that. She relaxed, her muscles softening and she spread her thighs for him.
“Beautiful, little Pict,” he whispered into the shell of her ear. “Trust me. I will not hurt you.”
“Y-you mean to take a switch to me,” she murmured back.
“Not tonight. Tonight, I shall hear your cries for an entirely different reason.”

Saturday Spanking - Feeling Trapped

Welcome to Saturday Spankings – a blog hop. I hope more of you will come join us to promote your own books. In my latest book, Searching for Home, Allie just wants to run her home-cleaning business in peace. But one client is standing in the way. He wants more from Allie than a clean house. Allie is sickened by the thought of going along with his request, but she knows his threats of telling everyone she is a thief will destroy her business.

“Come on, Allie. I thought the pretending was behind us,” he told her. The cooing note in his voice sickened her.
“Listen, I’m not pretending anything. Your wife hired me to clean your house – that’s all I want to do. And I clean better if no one else is at home. Please, just go and let me get back to work.”
“Fine, that’s up to you,” he said, his eyes hardening. “I guess I’m gonna have to make a police report on my stolen items, though. I really should warn my friends first, I think. They might want to check and see if things are missing from their house after one of you comes in to clean when ‘no one else is at home.’”
“You ass! You know damn good and well, I’ve never taken one thing from you! Why would you try to ruin my reputation and damage my business? What have I ever done to you?”
Sullivan chuckled. “You haven’t done anything to me. But let’s change that. You help me out a little and I can promise you a glowing recommendation.” He took a few steps toward her.
“Wait! I… my ribs are cracked. I can’t…”
“Honey, I’m not interested in your ribs.” Bradley unbuckled his belt as he took a step closer. “As long as you can get to your knees…”
Allie was back against the wall, and he was definitely too close. His hand reached out to touch her breast.
