Valerie Ullmer - KAI

Kai
(A Dark Assassins Novel Book One)
Valerie Ullmer

Will Kai embrace happiness with Liv or will he be alone for the rest of his existence?

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Today I'd like to welcome Valerie Ullmer to the Reading Room. This is a new author for me and I'm anxious to get to know her and her books better. What better time to begin reading about a sexy vampire than Halloween?

BLURB

There are two words that described Kai.

Remote and Deadly.

And until six months ago, he was fine with that description. But when the vampire assassin spots a curvaceous woman, a human no less, who would come to fill his thoughts, he would gladly shake his persona for a moment in time with her. Instead, he kept his distance, watching out for her and learning more about her every time their paths crossed. But he had yet to speak to her. When a turn of events thrusts her into his solitary life, he must decide whether to complete his assignment, or protect her.

Olivia Sabin had dedicated her life to her work; finding a cure for cancer. She had hidden behind the mask of a scientist who cares little about anything beyond her laboratory, and for a long while she believed it herself. But when a mysterious man came to frequent the diner she visited nightly, her awareness of him devastated her concentration, and she came to look forward to the glimpses of him, however brief.

When she stumbles upon a horrific experiment at work, she knows he’s the only one she can turn to. She’s willing to sacrifice everything in order to protect him and others of his kind from the same fate. But first, she needs to find a way to get him to hear her explanation.

Her eyes captured his.  A sliver of silver shone through as he stared right back at her from across the room.  Her eyes dropped and she watched his chest rise and fall with deep, harsh breaths.  He wasn’t unaffected by her touch, and she savored the evidence of his need for her, but he warred with himself about something her muddled brain couldn’t solve, so she decided to take the decision out of his hands.  Without any further thought, she reached for the hem of her shirt.
“What are you doing?” he growled.
Without an answer, she lifted the garment over her head and dropped it.  She ignored her trembling fingers as she raised them to the front opening of her bra, and with a snap of her fingers, the hooks detached and she shrugged it off.
Her cheeks fused with heat.  She’d never been as bold with another man, but she craved him in a way she couldn’t explain.  Her mind had taken a hiatus the second he touched her, and she refused to overthink the reasons why.  She wouldn’t allow logic to ruin this moment.  It was simple.  She wanted him, and unless he outright rejected her, she planned to seduce him.
Her numb fingers fumbled with the button of her jeans, but at that moment, he lunged at her, sweeping her up in his arms, and plundered her mouth.
His hands skimmed against the bare skin of her waist and moved them higher, until his generous hands cupped her breasts.  A harsh cry echoed around them as his thumbs brushed against her tight nipples, drawing out sensations she grew more and more addicted to.  A groan of protest escaped when he removed a hand, but when he tugged on the last remaining article of her clothing and the material ripped, she mewed in encouragement, hoping he would hurry.
Her hands skimmed underneath his Henley, and she sucked in a sharp breath as she encountered his hot skin.  Not leaving him any room to change his mind, she fumbled with the shirt until it rested near hers on the floor.
She pressed close to him, searching and finding his mouth after they’d been separated.  With his sculpted chest pressed against her soft one, her body felt scorched, as though she’d touched an open flame.  Keeping his mouth on hers, he removed the tattered remnants of her clothing, and yanked down his sweats, kicking them out of the way.
“Slow down, darlin’.  We have all night,” he growled as he nipped her lower lip.
Her hands splayed on his chest when a sudden thought popped into her head.  She blurted out her question before reason planted its ugly head.  “Can I touch you?”
A loud groan ripped from his throat, and he dropped his forehead against hers.  His breathing sounded as unsteady as hers, but she had no idea when she would have another opportunity to explore a man, much less a man who was as beautiful as Kai.  She waited for his answer, not wanting to rush him, or sway him one way or the other.
“I don’t know how long I’ll last,” he said through gritted teeth.
She pushed at his chest until he looked at her.  He stepped back and put a little space between them.  His silver eyes shone with a brightness that reminded her of the sun emerging from the clouds, and they blinded her for a second.  She blinked to break the spell, and looked down at his powerful chest, heaving with deep breaths.
Moving with ease, she splayed her hands on the sinewy muscles and leaned forward, licking his damp pectoral, teasing him a little before her tongue flicked his nipple.  She leaned back and blew lightly on the wet, heated skin.  The muscles in his neck corded as he threw his head back and gasped at her motions.  Taking this as a good sign, she repeated with the other, until a near-constant snarl vibrated through his chest, the seductive reverberation traveling through her.
“You’re going to kill me with your lips alone.”
Kissing her way down his stomach, she smiled against his skin at his statement.
“Not before I feel you inside me,” she teased.
She continued with her exploration, barely aware of his strangled groan, taking the time to caress his hips and run her hands over his powerful thighs and around to his taut buttocks, all while not allowing herself a peek at his erection.  The anticipation of what she had yet to explore, and the examination of every inch of what made Kai, Kai, had set a deep, addictive throbbing inside her core.  She wanted him to find the same pleasure that he promised in his gaze, so when she dropped to her knees, she allowed herself to take his cock in her hand.  Instead of examining it as she would under normal circumstances, her tongue darted out and she had her first taste of his skin.
Unsure of how to proceed, she went with her instincts and flattened her tongue underneath the base, licking him in one long, fluid motion until she reached his tip.  One last, long lick drew a shout that turned into a low moan as she opened wide and engulfed the head of his cock.  She teased the tip, licking at his essence, before taking the rest deep in her mouth.

Saturday Spankings - Getting what she needs

I’m back for another Saturday Spankings and I appreciate you stopping by. I always enjoy the snippets that everyone post and I hope you’ll check read them all. Next week I’ll begin snippets from the newest Cassie book, Cassie’s Life, that will be our just before Thanksgiving.
Today’s snippet comes from Cassie’s Road Trip. Cassie needs to head to the airport shortly for a trip with the girls, Tom has his own way of tormenting her for leaving him on his own.

Tom paused for a moment, and then began tugging my panties down. I began fussing mildly. “Tom, come on. You made your point. I’ll be good–I promise!” But as he began touching me now that my panties were down it was a caress rather than a spanking. His roaming hand was suddenly agitating me more than the spanking had.
“Don’t, Tom! We don’t have time. Don’t start.”  He does this sometimes and I want to shoot him! Tom’s intimate knowledge of my body can truly make me putty in his hands. So sometimes, purely for meanness, he starts something he won’t finish. I was just reaching the point where I didn’t care if I went to the airport or not when he stopped all activity and went back to gently rubbing my bottom.
He helped me to my feet as I glared at him trying to get my bearing. “You’re just mean!” I flared at him. “I’m sure there are plenty of hot men in New York that would be willing to help me out!”
As you may have guessed–wrong thing to say. I was quickly back over his knee and in a flash he had that dreaded slipper out. And to add insult to injury he was laughing at me! “Now girl you aren’t showing good judgment, losing your temper and speaking rudely to your loving husband. Tut, tut, tut.” But bless his heart, he soon abandoned the slipper and, using his hand for a much better purpose than spanking, he generously gave me exactly what I needed.

There's a girl’s trip in the works. All the girls have planned and plotted for months. Everything must work out just right for them to be able to talk the guys into this trip. All is on track until Allie, of all people, lands in hot water. Cassie and Sue do their best to help her out and keep the hope of the trip alive too.

Behaving is always a struggle for Cassie. She does try but, unfortunately, there are situations–completely beyond her control, at least in her eyes, that keep landing her on the wrong side of Tom’s spanking hand. As Cassie continues to end up in trouble, there are some interesting new friends, maybe a little rougher than Tom would want her associating with, who want to help her too. . .

For the curious - Question for Tom

Today we hear from Tom. I love hearing how people feel about Tom – I get two different responses from my readers, some love him, some hate him. Personally, I love him. When I showed one friend, one that dislikes Tom, the image I have of him, she said she never pictured him that young or that handsome. I already knew what a hunk he was. Here’s what I think he looks like and here’s are a few of the questions readers asked him.

For Tom: How did you come to the decision to Spank Cassie in the first place?

I suppose it goes back to my parents. They were the closest, most
loving couple I’ve ever known. When I was fourteen, I heard my father spanking my mother. I was devastated. I felt I should have stopped it and saved my mother, but I did nothing. My father realized what had happened. He explained his ideas about the husband as the head of a family and about protecting the woman you love. My head understood, but the idea of my lovely mother being hurt haunted me. She soon took me aside for a talk. She told me that the spanking I’d over heard was nothing to worry about. She told me she felt protected, cared for and more than anything else, loved. She wanted nothing about my father to change including the spanking in their marriage.

Domestic discipline worked for them and they were my first and best role models. I dated many women, I rarely though of spanking any of them. I even dated Janet decades ago. I would never have spanked her, vulgar as she was, because I simply didn’t care. I only wanted away from her. But with Cassie I loved her from the moment I saw her, I would have done anything for her and that included taking control so she would survive. Spanking seemed a natural extension of that control. It seems to have worked for us.
Have you ever been married before?

I have never been married before. I can’t even imagine it. Although I dated, marriage was not on my radar. My parents married late in life and I suppose I felt marriage for me was ten years or more down the road when I first saw Cassie. We married after only dating about six weeks and I’ve never looked at another woman since.

Did you ever love another woman before you met Cassie?

I’ve loved Cassie, and only Cassie. I’ve never loved anyone like I love her. Other than my mother, I can firmly state I have never loved another woman and I never will.

Tom has lots more to say. I'll give him another turn in a few weeks.

If you have any questions, for the character in either of the series, Cassie's Space or Cal's Law or me, for that matter, you can leave them in the comments or email me at pk.corey@yahoo.com  And please come back next Wednesday for more questions and answers.
