Thank you for coming by on this
holiday weekend – Saturday Spankings is still here for you. If you have the
week off I have some reading suggestions for you – my books and others too. My
snippet today comes from Becoming Family, the second in the Cal’s Law series.
Cal hadn’t like hearing how Jenny
screamed at the mother, and let her know, in private, just how upset he was. Soon
after he and Jenny leave because of Jenny’s mother’s rudeness. Neither Cal nor
Jenny can understand why Jenny’s mother is the way she is.
Why can’t they just be normal, why is my mother so mean
and nasty? She has everything she could ever want, but she doesn’t enjoy
anything but controlling other people.
“I don’t get them either
- your dad doesn’t seem so bad, but your mother needs a belt taken to her
backside, hard and often.”
Jenny giggled a bit. “Can you imagine? If we could find
someone to do that we could sell tickets.”
Jenny shifted in her seat. “Too bad you can’t do it. You
spank too hard and which rule did I break anyway? You said you wouldn’t spank
me just because you were pissed.”
“It had nothing to be with me being pissed, you were
disrespectful for one, but it was mostly because you were getting hysterical –
some people slap a person in the face to get them back. I feel it’s better to
slap the other end.”
“Well you could have stopped with one slap,” she huffed
at him.
“After one slap you were cussing me as hard as you could.”
Against overwhelming odds, Jenny and Cal are together and happy. Their love is strong, but before they can become family Jenny needs to learn what that word means. Jenny has no background in the real meaning of "family" but when Cal wants her to meet his and get to know hers, she knows the time has come. The difference in the two families is wide and jarring. Jenny has a lot to learn, but then so does Cal. When he meets her family, he discovers that the word family doesn't always mean the same thing to all people.
Jenny’s mother has planned a future for her daughter that does not include someone as ordinary as Cal Bennet. What could this small-town hick with no money and no connections do for her? How far will her mother go to see that Jenny accepts a life of high society and prestige? Will these two lovers come to an understanding of what their family will look like?
