Welcome to
Saturday Spankings. I’m away this weekend at a writing workshop – providing
Matthew allows it to continue. I hope to get to read all the snippets Sunday afternoon.
This snippet from
Cassie’s Road Trip and takes place shortly after last weeks’ snippet. The men
flew in to reunite with Cassie and Sue as they got out of jail. They finally
arrive back home and the men want to know everything.
Lily had made trays of her delicious
little hot sandwiches and we fell on them like puppies around a bowl. The first
two were delicious but as I eagerly reached for another, I saw Tom watching
quietly from across the room and my throat closed. I couldn’t eat another bite.
We both knew what our afternoon held and neither of us was looking forward to
the inevitable.
I went and sat next to Tom while the
others ate. Soon enough Steve said, “Let’s go Sue, I want to know everything
that happened, and I don’t want anything left out.” She looked almost meek as
she took his hand.
Tom spoke up, “Steve’s right, we want
to know everything, we men talk too and compare notes. We’re expecting everyone
to have the same story and since you haven’t had time to compare notes and
decide what to tell and not tell about this last event it better be the simple truth.”

The truth is definitely going to have her sitting sensitively.
DeleteOooh I want to hear everything too! Great snippet PK :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not a pretty story.
DeleteWill your road trip end the same? One can only hope.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind if we could skip the jail part.
DeleteI'd want to know everything too! Will Sue fess up? Great snippet PK, and enjoy that workshop!
ReplyDeleteThe boys are right, they haven't had time to decide what to tell and not tell. Puts poor Cassie in a bad spot.
DeleteYeah. No flubbing on this one, or they'll get in even more trouble than they already are. I don't envy Cassie for what she's got ahead of her.
ReplyDeleteShe does have a rough afternoon ahead of her.
DeleteI love that lack of opportunity to collude on their stories. That's inspired! Great angle.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cassie tries to walk that fine line - but it's tough.
DeleteUh oh, the reckoning is coming!
ReplyDeleteWasn't a pleasant afternoon for Cassie.
DeleteSo does she tell the truth? I want to know!
ReplyDeleteLOL! It worked! I'm trying to entice people to read it!
DeleteI am betting I am the only one who has read Cassie's Road Trip 4 times. Time to start working on a review. Loved this story, PK!
