Are Saturdays
rolling around faster these days? It
does seem that way, but I appreciate anyone who has stopped by here during this
busy season. Everyone needs down time and reading a good book is one of the best
ways to relax. Check out all the
snippets and I know you find one to fit your taste.
My
snippet come from Cassie’s Life. A caller, whose voice Cassie doesn’t recognize,
contacts Cassie making threats. The caller won’t identify himself, only alludes
to something from Cassie’s past. He insists on seeing Cassie face to face
before giving her any details. Before the schedule meeting, Cassie and Sue and
the girls muse over what it could be.
“You
said this had to be back before you got married. Did you do anything illegal
back then?” Jenny asked and I wasn’t a bit amused as Allie and Sue laughed.
“Yes,
Jenny,” I began, glaring at them, “I might have broken a law or two along the
way, but nothing for which the statute of limitations hasn’t long since run
out. Honey, I was a wild child then. I did some extremely embarrassing things
that I would rather not come to light. But I didn’t do anything jail worthy I
promise you. Tom knows I was wild and promiscuous, but he doesn’t know details
and I’d rather he didn’t ever find out.
Allie
and Jenny seemed to view the coming day as an adventure. I wasn’t feeling the
same. We made our plans and Sue and I spent the rest of the afternoon wondering
what I’d done so long ago that could land ‘my sweet ass in jail’ more than
forty years later.
Come by the Reading Room each Wednesday for some questions and answer from different characters in the Cassie's Space series or the Cal's Law series.
Cassie’s Life (Book 10)
Ask Cassie about her life on the river and she’ll tell you it’s lovely and peaceful. But while Cassie loves the life she lives, peaceful is not always an accurate description. Whether she’s confronting an armed man who’s in a drunken rage, planning a friend’s wedding or dealing with a ghost in a backwoods lodge, Cassie is going to deal with it the best way she knows how. And peaceful doesn’t always work.
When a mysterious phone call comes for Cassandra Wentworth – Cassie’s past is suddenly back to haunt her in a devastating way. Tom has always said nothing from before the time they met counts, but he didn’t know about this. Sue, Annie, Allie and Jenny are all willing to help, but will it be enough?

Very intriguing PK, I smell trouble. But then again, when Cassie is involved...lol

This is such a wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteHmm...wonder what it could be. Great snippet, by the way!
ReplyDeleteI've a feeling her larger problem will be Tom finding out certain things she'd rather he didn't know, rather than any true illegal activities. But meeting this guy face-to-face is probably not a good idea, and that will get her in more trouble than anything that happened in her past.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens next is really fun! Oh heck! The whole book is fun!

I loved Cassie's take on her misspent youth - and how she handled the ensuing problems in her unique Cassie way. This book is so full of adventure!
ReplyDeleteWe all need a friend like Sue. Someone who tells it like it is. Her presence is always there in your Cassie books, but I thought she should get Best Supporting Actress for Cassie's Life.
