Welcome to Saturday Spankings – our time to share 8 sentences (or as close as possible) of one of our books or a WIP. My snippet today is from Cassie on the Move, which will be out May 29. Cassie and Tom are enjoying their new house on the river. While Tom is playing golf one day Cassie joins the neighborhood children as they stalk one another with their paint ball guns. She’s holding her own until a well aimed shot hits her in the back of the thigh and caused her to stumble. Her scraped arm is cleaned and bandaged. So much care was taken with her arm, she never even realized that the sore spot on the leg, which she can’t really see, had formed a very noticeable bruise.
“Cassie Jane,” Tom said
sharply as I was undressing for bed, “what in the world caused that mark on
your leg.” He quickly had me over his lap to closely inspect the bruise. What a
horrible starting position for the conversation.
“Umm… that must have
happened when I fell,” I hedged.
He swatted my bottom hard,
“Try again,” he insisted.
Evidently, paint ball
bruises are quite distinctive, I had to come clean, but only because I couldn’t
think of any other explanation.
Tom was not happy. “Girl,
the neighbors are going to think you’re a wild woman. Didn’t I tell you the
other day when we were watching Drew, to stay away from those things?”
Did he? Good grief, how
could I possibly remember everything he told me not to do? Sadly, I was foolish
enough to say that out loud.
Blurb: Cassie on the Move
Cassie’s on the move and loving life. Through paint ball game in the woods and water park adventure she’s gets to know her new neighbors as the new house is renovated.
Cassie is traveling too, from trips with just the girls, to conventions, vacations, and cruises with Tom and friends, she's always ready for the next adventure. But when Cassie begins having dizzy spells Tom thinks a slower pace is in order. Getting Cassie to slow down and take care of herself proves to be quite a challenge. A challenge Tom is more than determined to take on.

Blurb: Cassie’s Tale
Cassie continues to live life to the fullest, from wheeling around in her new sports car to mastering the art of riding a motor scooter with no hands, she manages to keep Tom on his toes. The fly in the ointment is that Tom’s firm wants him back for a project and Cassie wants him all to herself. When Tom takes the job, Cassie is left lonely and bored – never a good combination for her.
Left to her own devices Cassie makes some poor decisions, frightening Sue and causing Tom to lower the boom. Tom's new schedule for Cassie, including her getting a job, leaves her little time to get herself in trouble – yet she still manages.
Blurb: Cassie’s Space
Meet Cassie, a former wild child, who meets her match, and creates the match of a lifetime. To nearly all who know her now, Cassie is a vivacious, sweet southern lady, who is the epitome of grace and proper behavior. Look a tiny bit closer and you’ll see that Cassie has another side – the one whose language could make a sailor blush as she drinks him under the table.
Thanks to her loving husband Tom, who even after thirty years of marriage, never hesitates to put Cassie over his knee when she strays too far from his view of ladylike behavior, few people other than close old friends know this side of Cassie exists.
Cassie and Tom show that love and passion are not the sole property of the young. Love and passion grows and changes with age. While aging may bring on challenges – the love and passion between these two people only grows stronger.

I'm really liking Cassie! She's very cute!!
ReplyDeleteI think she does grow on people. She does want to have fun.
DeletePK,
ReplyDeletesadly Cassie has been that way all her life.
She never did quite get the maxim, "please turn on brain before operating mouth."
Hence her often horizontal position.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
You're right Paul, definitely something she has never mastered. But she wouldn't be nearly as much fun if she did learn.
DeleteWhy would he object to paint ball? Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI love Tom, but the man can be a little stuffy. He thinks running through the wood shooting and being shot at is neither dignified nor completely safe for his lovely wife.
DeleteOh dear, foolish indeed ... she may have a point though. How is she meant to remember everything lol
ReplyDeleteHugs
Roz
Too true, Tom has more rules than a dog has fleas! Cassie goes by the three or four main ones she agreed to when they married - well mostly. The others don't seem to stick with her too well.
DeleteMade me chuckle out loud. I love sassy, spunky heroines and Cassie is that indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh she is! And I think she would be so much fun to be around.
DeleteCassie and Tom just shine with affection even when they're butting heads--such a neat dynamic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily, I'm so glad this comes through. There's is a love story first and foremost.
DeleteThat's the problem with too many rules and restrictions. After a while, one doesn't care and just goes with what feels good. Tom always knows how to deal with Cassie's disobedience and Cassie loves every minute of it,no matter her complaints.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. There's a few things I'd really like to work on in real life. I wish Nick would make a rule or two and back them up. But two would be plenty enough! But it does seem to work for Cassie and Tom and they seem to both be getting what they need.
DeleteLOL, Tom didn't give her a chance, he just flipped her over his knee to check out her leg. Tom's a doll!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by Mary. I adore Tom, as Cassie's husband, of course - NOT mine!
DeleteOOps! LOL. Never voice those practical thoughts. Made me laugh ;)
ReplyDeletePoor Cassie has never been completely about to keep her mouth shut when she needs to.
DeleteVery cute. I laughed at "how could I possibly remember everything he told me not to do?"
ReplyDeleteToo many rules and they just seem to go out of your head!
DeleteShe is so silly!! LOve her!
ReplyDeleteShe does enjoy herself!
Deletethat is too fun- Cassie sadly saying that to Tom when she shouldn't have :D
ReplyDeleteWell Tom is always insisting that she be HONEST! She was being honest!
DeleteFun snippet. Made me laugh! Poor Cassie, always getting into trouble... LOL
ReplyDeleteShe does seem to have a knack for it.
DeletePaint balls bruises, they do linger badly, quite painful too!
ReplyDeleteOver his lap and speaking her mind, oh dear Cassie, not a great combination!
Truly, you would have thought she would have learned something after all this time.
Deletepoor Cassie, it just sort of happens to her. She has a lot of fun though
ReplyDeleteAshe, so glad you understand - things just happen to her as she enjoys life.
DeleteShe'd probably be better off if he told her what she could do.
ReplyDeleteAngie, that would save them a lot of time!
