For the curious - Questions for Tom and Lily

I'm happy to be back with more questions today. I hope this is helping you get to know my characters better. Now that the new book, Cassie's Life, is out I hope there are still more questions you'd like to ask.

Here are two questions Tom chose to answer together.

Questions for Tom:

Tom have you ever considered that if you were less controlling,
Cassie wouldn’t get into so much trouble. It must be hard not to chafe against such a tight rein.

Tom, where do you see yourself on the strictness scale? 1 being not strict. 10 being extremely strict. Is that where you want to be as Cassie's loving man? Do you think that this measure has changed over time? Please explain.

I feel Cassie provides a very one sided view of our marriage. I don’t view myself as controlling at all. I simply want Cassie to act like the lady she is and keep herself safe. I don’t feel that too much for a husband to ask.

Cassie may paint me as controlling, but if you read her stories you’ll see that she does almost everything she wants to do. For example, she can go nearly anywhere she pleases, but I want to know where she’s going. If she doesn’t want to share that information with me then it’s probably not a place she should be.

Question for Lily -

When you are alone at the end of the day, do you ever wish for a blessing that life hasn't given to you yet?  If you pray in the quiet of the evening, what do you pray for?

The Good Lord knows everything I need and He’s blessed me with it. I say my prayers every night and usually I keep a running dialog with the Almighty most of the day. I always pray that God will watch over this bunch that’s become my family. I 'specially pray for Miss Annie, Missy and Miss Priss. I love these three like they was mine. Truth is they ain’t spring chickens no more. And the things Missy and Miss Priss can get theyselves into, watching out for them’s like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree. Reckon that’s why I spend most of my day talking to God.

  2. Hi PK, I am slowly making my way back to blogland bit by bit. Thank you so much for your lovely emails, I can't tell you how much it means to me. The support from blog and rl friends has been overwhelming.

Enjoyed reading these answers and am enjoying getting more of an insight into your characters.

  3. Tom, your answer is reasonable and if the reins weren't so tight, Cassie might be where she was when you met her or worse. She even says that you saved her from herself. She needs you to be exactly the way you are. If you relaxed your watchfulness she would lose the joy she has. Her complaints are only what she thinks she should feel. Cassie adores you just the way you are.

    1. Ahh... you do see Cassie for who she is. She does fuss because it's expected of her. But she is perfectly content.

  4. I’ve read 9.5 of Cassie’s books and can think of quite a few instances where Tom goes overboard, in my opinion. I know that Cassie can be a handful and accept that it may be a matter of perspective. I couldn’t live with Tom but he’s the one for Cassie, their long and happy marriage is proof of that. Thanks for asking Tom my question, PK.

    1. I think Tom believes what he's saying and I think Cassie believes what she's saying. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

  5. I love seeing things from Tom's POV as well as Cassie's. Have to wonder if Tom explained a bit more if Cassie wouldn't chomp at the bit quite so much. And of course, Lily is one of my all time favorite characters. Thanks for sharing, PK.

  7. I love Tom just the way he is. Always have and always will.

I think Lily ought to earn her angel wings watching over those children.
