Saturday Spankings - Didn't think of that

It’s Saturday again, they seem to roll around faster and faster. I appreciate you stopping by for a snippet today and I hope you read the one from my friends listed below. My snippet is from Cassie’s Life, the tenth in the Cassie series – although each is a stand-alone book so jump in anywhere.
Beginning shortly where I left off last week, the ladies were taken in for questioning after two deputies caught them coming out a motel window.

We pulled up to the sheriff’s office right behind Jake and the four of us were lead in through the back door, down a hall way and through another door. We were in a long room, almost like another hallway but this one was lined with chairs on one side and a table on the other. Jake waved his hand toward the chairs and we sat as he said, “I’ll be back.” The door he went through shut with a resounding click leaving no doubt that we were locked in.
We sat in silence until Jenny spoke up with something like amused wonder in her voice, “You know, if we’d gone to wait in the car after we got you in and you all had just come out the door the regular way, I bet no one would have even noticed us.”
We sat still as stone, until as if on cue we each slowly turned our heads to stare at her.
“Sorry,” she said with a sheepish grin. “I just thought of it.”
I didn’t know what I was angrier about – that we’d been too stupid to think of that for ourselves or that Jenny had the nerve to bring it up now.

Cassie’s Life (Book 10)

Ask Cassie about her life on the river and she’ll tell you it’s lovely and peaceful. But while Cassie loves the life she lives, peaceful is not always an accurate description. Whether she’s confronting an armed man who’s in a drunken rage, planning a friend’s wedding or dealing with a ghost in a backwoods lodge, Cassie is going to deal with it the best way she knows how. And peaceful doesn’t always work.
When a mysterious phone call comes for Cassandra Wentworth – Cassie’s past is suddenly back to haunt her in a devastating way. Tom has always said nothing from before the time they met counts, but he didn’t know about this.  Sue, Annie, Allie and Jenny are all willing to help, but will it be enough?

  1. Since I've read all the Cassie books, I always think I'll just skip the little snippet. Then I read it anyway and enjoy it so much. It brings me back to the story and how much fun Cassie is. I especially loved this part of the book. She gets herself into the craziest situations and her response to them is always adorable! I can't get enough of her!

    1. She really doesn't mean to get into things, life just happens to Cassie.

  2. If Cassie is at all like me, she'd be mad because she hadn't thought of it herself first. Hindsight is always 20/20.

    1. She is upset with herself. She is usually better at covering herself.

  4. I remember laughing when Jenny said this. Jenny really came into her own in Cassie's Life, I thought. I didn't think of it either, though!
