Blurb:

One powerful serial killer. One visceral connection.
One deadly secret that should have stayed buried.

Men like Ethan Reilly should never fall in love. Dark, enigmatic and dangerous, Ethan is the perfect predator until he meets Lily Simpson, a woman passionate enough to placate him and strong enough to surrender to him.

For a while Lily’s love is enough.

But the darkness inside Ethan is too powerful to contain, and soon it spills into their burgeoning love affair. As he wrestles with his demons, Ethan must come to terms with who he really is, but if he does, what happens to Lily? Can any love be strong enough to survive a past as terrible as Ethan’s? And what kind of future can they forge from the ashes of his awful admission?

Read Flawed, a Dark Necessitiesprequel, and discover the making of not one, but two monsters.

It was going to be the pleasure. It was always going to be the pleasure—that was the curse of Ethan. He was impossible to deny—an irresistible force that she just could not resist.

Excerpt:

He lifted his hand, bringing it crashing back down over her covered behind, and he watched with satisfaction as her lips parted.
Holy fuck.
“Why are you being spanked, Lily?” he asked her as he delivered another three swats in fast succession.
She gasped, her eyes blinking wildly as she replied. “You… you want me to answer?”
Ethan chuckled lightly. She was so fucking adorable. “Yes, beautiful Lily,” he told her. “I want you to bloom for me, to come alive under the weight of my palm. And for that, you must answer.”
He heard the gasp of air Lily pulled in between her teeth. “I wanted it,” she responded, and Ethan could hear the trace of irony and disbelief in her tone at the admission. “I wanted you to spank me.”
Lily was right. She hadwanted this, and as he spanked her over and over, he wondered whether or not she was regretting that choice now. He hoped not, and as he glanced down at her face he couldn’t see any fear in her eyes. There was some shock, and perhaps even concern, but not fear.
And Ethan knew what fear looked like better than most.
There was definitely no terror in his little flower, but there was the genesis of something else—the dark promise of her dilating pupils and her splaying knees beneath her virginal gown. There was the tantalizing prospect of her arousal.
“That’s right,” he crooned from over her bent body. “You did want it, little Lily, and I believe you need it, too. I think you’re the kind of woman who would benefit from a spanking most days.”
His right palm connected with the sitting spot of one and then the other pert cheek of Lily’s behind. “What do you think, young lady?”
Her lips parted again at his query, and he could see just by looking on her face how much she both loved and hated being labelled that way. No doubt she found the name denigrating in some way, but that was alright. Ethan could tell how much her body wanted to be treated that way—her desire to yield and her fast, panting breaths were evidence enough of that—but he also knew something else, something Lily didn’t know yet. Ethan wanted to denigrate her. He wanted to push her right down into the depths, if for no other reason, so that he could be the one to make her soar again.
“Yes,” she rasped, gyrating her body over his lap although he had never commanded her hips to move. It was hypnotizing to witness. “Yes, I do.”
“I know you do, beautiful,” he confirmed as he rained down a fresh torrent of smacks on her upturned bottom. “But you don’t have to worry. I’m here now, and I can help you scratch that little itch.”

Saturday Spanking - Why?

Welcome to Saturday Spankings once again. Maybe it’s time to begin loading your Kindle for you summer reading. Look over my books and those of the others listed below.  I’m jumping back and forth on Saturdays between my Cassie’s Space series and my latest book, Returning to Us – my first in the Corbin’s Bend series.Today I'm in Returning to Us.
Susan sits contemplating her situation on her hike, trying to understand her desire for a domestic discipline relationship. Maybe some of us have wondered some of the same things…

Still in a meditative state, Susan thought, When Hal spanks me regularly, even if it’s a hard spanking for something serious, I know Hal has is there for me. I feel happier about life in general. I feel loved and cared for. When Hal takes charge in that way, it makes me want to step up and do better for myself.
Susan continued to let ideas tumble through her mind until one kept repeating itself unrelentingly.
Why?
Why to all of it? she wondered. Why do I want to be controlled, why do I want my husband to be dominant, why do I long to be spanked and why in the hell do I want to be punished?
As Susan sat, letting all these questions flow through her mind, only one answer surfaced. It didn’t matter. She could ask why all day long and never get an answer she or anyone else could truly understand. All she knew was that it was true and that was what mattered. It’s what I want. This longing has been with me forever and it’s not going away. The longer Susan sat thinking the more firmly she realized that for her this wasn’t simply a want, it was a need. A deep need.

Saturday Spanking - Not everyone understands

I’m happy to be back with another Saturday Spanking and I’m glad you chose to come by. For the next few weeks I’m celebrating the release of my Cassie’s Space series in paperback by going back and using snippets from each of the books. Today’s snippet comes from book two, Cassie’s Tale.
Tom followed Cassie and the girls after the girls slipped out of the country for a quick trip. He expressed his displeasure in his usual way. This was early in their marriage and her friends understood nothing about a domestic discipline lifestyle. Cassie knows this lifestyle truly works in her marriage – even if it’s painful at times.

I tried my best, but I after all the crying and sleeping, I couldn’t completely erase all traces of my tears. My friends could also tell I was sitting tenderly.
The girls were furious. I let them rant a bit to get it out of their systems. Finally, I told them, “All right, it’s time to drop it. It’s over and I’m just fine.”
“You are not fine,” Sue snapped. “It’s plain to see he beat the shit out of you!”
I don’t have the temper I used to, but asinine statements like that can push me over the edge, and it was with cold fury that I came back at her.
“I think you need to shut up. I’ve lived with a man who beat me and you all remember that time. Think about it, right now. Remember what it was like. Remember what Iwas like.”
They all quieted as they remembered a time we all wanted to forget, a Cassie we all wanted to forget. I left them there for a moment.
“All right, snap out of it. Is that how you’d describe me now?” Gradually small smiles played on their faces and, grudgingly, Annie muttered, “I think you and Tom are the happiest couple I know.” Sue didn’t want to agree, so she said nothing.
“You all know Tom would never hurt me, so leave me alone and get off Tom’s back.”

Valerie Ullmer - Hunter

Hunter (A Dark Assassins Novel Book Five)
By Valerie Ullmer

Genre:  Paranormal Erotic Romance

Cover Design by:  Valerie Ullmer

I'm happy to have Valerie Ullmer here at the Reading Room today. I think you're going to like this one!

Blurb:

Half-vampire and half-shifter.

The one definitive belief panther-shifter Hunter and the other immortals understood about shifters and vampires; vampire venom is deadly to shifters and vice versa.  But Hunter never worried about testing the theory because he never wondered if he had a mate, even after a few of his family had found their own. As he and two others stumble upon and eliminate several rogue shifters, part of a larger group determined to kill each of the assassins, Hunter also stumbles upon the one woman destined to be his.  There’s only one problem. She’s part vampire.

All alone in the world.

Despite everything, Neri made a life for herself after she escaped from a facility using her as a test subject.  She has no past, no family, and no connections to the world as far as she can remember. She stays to herself and finds a routine, telling herself she isn’t lonely.  But everything changes when she spots Hunter and her first true memory revealed. He was there the day someone injected her with an experimental drug and changed into this cold being.

As Neri and Hunter navigate their newfound relationship, their journey becomes even more complicated when they learn Neri’s venom is deadly to shifters.  But with help from the other immortals, Hunter and Neri reveal her past and realize the extent of the threat Dark Company has been dealing with for years.

But can their relationship survive with so much stacked against them?

Excerpt:

“You don’t have to fear me.  You’re safe.” Hunter reiterated his promise and cupped her face.
Hunter’s vision blackened around the edges and a second later, he plunged into a darkness.  He didn’t understand when he heard her quiet voice.
“I’m not so sure about that.”
The next minute, Hunter sensed his surroundings changed.  He blinked his eyes, getting used to the darkness after the bright, blinding light of the snow.  He still found himself on his knees and as he moved his fingers searching for the woman who had been right in front of him, he found she wasn’t there any longer.
Hunter closed his eyes and listened to his surroundings.
There was a low hum from a computer fan somewhere in the room and there was breathing, deep, as if the person was asleep.  Before he could investigate further, a desk lamp clicked on and his eyes moved toward the arrogant looking man seated, cross-legged, on an uncomfortable metal chair.  He had a smug look on his face and Hunter wanted to break his face.
Hunter pulled his gaze from the man and took a quick glance around and to him, something about it seemed familiar.  The sterile coldness, the clear glass that looked out into the hall, the white formica tiles on the floor. Sterile and clean.  The place gave him the creeps.
When he turned his gaze to the man in the lab coat, his gaze wasn’t on Hunter but on a woman laying on the exam table he hadn’t seen until that moment.
Hunter took a deep breath, trying to examine the scents in the room and looking for a familiar one, but there was nothing.  He should have scented the sterile environment, the blue liquid on the counter along with wooden sticks and cotton balls, but there was nothing.
He growled in frustration but neither the older gray-haired doctor, nor the woman strapped down with her mouth covered to muffle sound, reacted to the sound escaping from his throat.
Without another thought, he lunged for the doctor but he passed through the figure.
Okay, I’m not here.  Can’t scent, can’t touch.
Hunter turned toward the table and sucked in a deep breath as the familiar features of the woman in the mountains came into focus.  Her face looked gaunt, but it was the dark brown hair and matching eyes that took him by surprise because she looked familiar. Her body looked starved and despite the bruising on her limbs and the dark circles under her eyes; she looked back at the doctor in defiance.
Hunter jolted when the man spoke.
“So, Nerissa… it appears you’re an utter failure as a shifter.”  His eyes glanced down as if he were ashamed by her lack of abilities.  “But you are a prime candidate for an experimental drug my colleagues and I have been working on.”
Her gaze narrowed as he continued to speak and he noted her body shook with the continuous growl that emitted from her throat.
“You had such promise.  Oh, well.”
As if waiting for that statement, a nurse walked in and handed a syringe to the man.  “Here you go, Dr. Stevens.”

Saturday Spankings - Unexpected afternoon

Welcome to Saturday Spankings. While I’m extremely proud of my latest book, Returning to Us, partly because it was accepted into Blushing’s Corbin’s Bend series, I’m going to go back and do a few SS on the rest of my books. If you haven’t tried any from the Cassie’s Space series, perhaps I can persuade you.

Each of these books is a stand-alone, so please jump in anywhere. This excerpt is from the second book, Cassie’s Tale. Cassie has elected to forgo the shopping trip with the girls since they are off to a sex-toy shop and Tom would not like her going. Cassie expect it will be a lonely afternoon with her friends shopping and the men golfing…

I had just drifted off to sleep when I felt a hand on my arm. My heart gave a lurch. I knew I was alone in that great big house. I barely had time to see that it was Tom before he tied a scarf around my eyes and said quietly, “Do what I tell you and you won’t be hurt.”
Oh my!We hadn’t played like this in so long. My heart raced because I’d truly been frightened. That fear, combined with being deprived of sight so suddenly and the realization that Tom had given up his golf game just to spend the afternoon with me, definitely had me reeling.
“Sit up on the side of the bed,” he said in a demanding tone. I could hear him pulling a chair a few feet from the bed, and I could feel him staring at me as I breathed fast.
“Take off your blouse.”
That simple sentence caused my heart to race even faster. I fell completely into this game of make believe and my hands were trembling as I fumbled with the buttons.
“Stand up and take off your skirt.”
Standing, I slowly unzipped the skirt and let it fall to the floor.
Coming to me, he touched my face and ran his fingers down my side. “Are you here alone?” he asked, almost in a whisper.
I nodded.
“Where is your jewelry?”
“We’re just visiting,” I told him. “I brought very little.”
“Where do you keep your cash?” he wanted to know next.
“I… I have no cash. My husband keeps all our money.”
“No jewelry and no cash. I guess I’ll have to take something else of value.”
