Saturday Spankings - Domestic discipline vs abuse

It's time for Saturday Spankings and I hope you find lots of books to tempt you. I’m doing snippets from my fourth Cassie book, Cassie’s River Living. Cassie’s young neighbor, Allie, has recently learned that Tom sometimes spanks Cassie and the girl is dumbfounded. Without letting Cassie know what she's found out, Allie begins probing – feeling Cassie out on the subject.

I don’t think I could ever let a man hit me. I’d leave him in a heartbeat,” Allie said with conviction. I had to smile. Everything seems so cut and dry to the young.
“I like your attitude,” I told her. “You remember, don’t you ever let anyone abuse you. You have way too many resources to allow that to happen.”
“I guess your marriage to Tom has been pretty different from your first one,” she mused.
I laughed then. “The difference between night and day!” I told her. “Tom treats me like a queen since the day we met. I would never have survived if I hadn’t met Tom. He is the most wonderful man in the world.”
Allie seemed to be thinking about something and finally she asked, “So Tom would never think of ever hitting a woman?”
“Good heavens, no! You know Tom is always a gentleman. Violence is just not in his nature, never has been. Now when we first married, I was a real handful, but he was never abusive in any way.”
I know some might think I wasn’t being honest with the child, but you must understand that nothing I said was a lie in my mind. There is domestic abuse, violence, anger, hitting, kicking, cursing, and mental and emotional torture. And then there’s discipline and guidance from a strong loving man who keeps the safety and well-being of the woman he loves, number one in his mind at all times. The fact that this may, in some marriages, take the form of spanking in no way makes the spanking abuse.

BLURB:
Will they both let their reluctance to admit they want more from the other cost them everything?
Nan Meyers returns to her beloved hometown of Willow Springs a broken woman, ten months after leaving for what was supposed to be a short vacation with her brother. For years she’d enjoyed an active sexual lifestyle at the local BDSM club owned by her friends, but the trauma she endured while away has stripped her of those pleasures, leaving her determined to get her life back.
Dan Shylock greets the news of his friend and favorite submissive’s return with relief. After Nan cut off all communication with him and her other friends several weeks after going on vacation, her silence had both worried and angered him. Seeing the changes in her upon her return stirs up his suspicions, and when she reveals hints of suffering from an abusive trauma, his protective instincts and determination to help her kick into high gear.
As Dan slowly coaxes Nan back into embracing the pain induced pleasures she once loved, their growing feelings for each other come to the surface. But before either can come to terms with how they feel, the truth about the strange mishaps Nan has been experiencing almost costs her her life. Will Dan get there in time to save her?
This is book four in the Cowboy Doms series but can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Publisher’s Note: This steamy, contemporary Western romance contains elements of ménage, mystery, suspense, and power exchange.

EXCERPT:

“Looks like I’m not the only one unhappy with your long, unexplained absence.”  Unable to resist, Dan pinched her chin and turned her face toward him, holding her there even though her eyes darkened with annoyance and she tried to jerk free.  “In case you’ve forgotten, you can come to me with anything, tell me anything. I don’t judge, you know that, or you should.” He released her and changed the subject as her expression turned rigid.  “I have a new foal, born seven months ago. Pretty little filly. You’ll have to come out and see her sometime.”
Nan’s face lost her rigid irritation and her eyes lit with interest, a familiar look he was relieved to see.  She loved horses, and he knew she’d always wanted one of her own, but not until she could buy enough acres to stable it herself.  That was part of her independent streak that right now was causing her to remain mute on her reasons for staying away.
“I’d love to.”  Her rigid shoulders relaxed with the eagerness in her eyes.  “Thanks. Maybe next week, after I get the shop going again. Are you still working with military parolees?”
“Sure, just let me know, and yes, I hired two new guys several months ago.”  The troubled vets used the time, space and work he offered to transition back into civilian life and acclimate themselves to their freedom from both drugs and prison before returning to their loved ones or heading out on their own.  Of the previous eight men he’d sponsored, only one had lapsed bad enough he’d ended up back on drugs.
Gertie returned with their orders and Dan shoved aside his curiosity and concern to savor spending time with Nan again.  The instant rush of excitement upon seeing her again felt damned good, his relief when Connor called to tell him she was back palpable.  Even though he itched to get to the bottom of her trouble, he refrained from pushing too hard. He’d run up against the brick wall of her stubborn independence before and didn’t relish starting their reunion on a negative note.
They spoke of everything except about the months she was away and the reason for her extended visit.  By the time they finished their lunch, they had rekindled their easy friendship, enjoying it almost as much as before she’d left.  His impatience to discover what happened that caused those shadows under her eyes was his only regret as he stood to leave. With luck, once she submitted to him again at the club, he would be successful in getting those answers.
He tossed down a generous tip and reached out to give her hair an affectionate tug, something he’d done countless times before, only to have her jerk away, as if fearing that small prick on her scalp instead of relishing it.  Her face whitened and then flushed, the uncharacteristic response heightening his suspicion something dire was going on with her.
Nan slid off the stool, backing away, her retreat a painful kick to his gut.  “Sorry. I…”
Dan laid a firm finger over her lips.  “Don’t say anything unless it’s the truth.”  Dropping his hand, he wasn’t surprised at the mulish set of her mouth or her silence.  Sighing in disappointment, he said, “I hope you’ll join us at the club tonight. We’ve missed you.”
Shaking her head, she replied, “I don’t have time, but should tomorrow night.”
He nodded and turned to leave.  “See you tomorrow then.”
She waited until he’d taken two steps away before saying, “I’ve missed you, too, and everyone else.”
He swiveled his head to look at her as he settled his hat back on and nodded. “Good to know.”

I live in the Midwest with my husband and our dog, a lovable Great Pyrenees/Standard Poodle.  I love dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting dogs and kids, reading and working puzzles.  We have traveled extensively throughout the states, Canada and just once overseas, but I now prefer being a homebody.  I worked for a while writing articles for a local magazine but soon found my interest in writing for myself peaking. My first book was strictly spanking erotica, but I slowly evolved to writing erotic spanking romance with a touch of suspense.  My favorite genre to read is suspense.

Saturday Spankings - Tom always knows

Welcome to Saturday Spankings – here’s hoping all your reading will be as hot as the weather. I’m going through my books trying to give a few snippets from each. Today I’m in Cassie’s River Living, the forth book in the Cassie’s Space series.
Cassie is enjoying one of Tom pre-bedtime spankings, something they both enjoy just for fun, when Tom steps it up a notch.

He finally stopped to rub, only to start up again quite a bit harder. I was trying to squirm off his lap protesting. “What’s that for?” I demanded.
“This,” he told me with an especially hard swat, “is for stopping at Sue’s when you should have stayed with the children on their bike ride.”
“You let me up!” I demanded angrily. “How dare Ryan! He had no reason to go tattling to you.”
Tom laughed harder as he continued to swat. “Ryan didn’t say a word about it. I knew that was what you were going to do and you just confirmed it. When will you learn? I can nearly always tell what you’re planning with one look. Don’t you know you can never pull something over on me?”
Tom is the most exasperating man. If I didn’t love him better than life, he would be downright annoying. His administering had left me stinging and miffed at him for being a know-it-all. But soon I was cradled in his arms with my warm bottom pressed against him, my favorite sleeping position.
I lay safe and snug in his arms and thought about what he had said, ‘Don’t you know you can never pull something over on me?’ Heaven help me, but that did sound like a challenge.

Saturday Spankings - Completely truthful

Welcome! I’m enjoying Saturday Spankings these days as I bounce from book to book. I’m back in my Cassie’s Space series now, book four – Cassie’s River Living. I hope you’ll check out all my books The Cassie series as well as my Cal’s Law series and my contribution to the Corbin’s Bend series.

In today’s snippet, Cassie has been busy and has come home several evening exhausted and ill tempered. Tom decides, after overhearing her muttering ‘Kiss my ass.’ one morning that it’s time for an attitude adjustment and puts Cassie over his knee for a firm spanking. He also tells her she is not to leave the house for the day. She is to stay home and rest. Cassie’s not happy with the restrictions.

Tom let me up and held me as I snubbed. I finally ventured, “I have to tell Sue something, she’s expecting me to go with her. You know she’ll come up here.”
“That won’t be a problem,” he said dryly, taking out his phone to call Sue.
“Don’t tell her you won’t let me, please. Just tell her I don’t feel well or something.” Sue knows I get spanked. She’s known for decades and she was present at my one and only public spanking all those years ago. In fact, Sue occasionally gets her rump roasted these days. But I still didn’t want to advertise the fact that I’d just been spanked and had been essentially grounded by my husband.
I had little hope he’d listen. Tom’s a stickler for the truth. But when Sue answered, I heard Tom say, “Sue, I’m afraid Cassie won’t be joining you today, she’s not feeling well.” I was slightly surprised that he was going along with my request when he went on, “She has a raging fever where she sits. I don’t want you coming up or talking with her today or I’ll see to it that it’s contagious.” Even though I was annoyed at him, I couldn’t help laughing in my head. Tom is so Tom and I do love him to death.

Excerpt :

“Ethan!”
His name escaped her lips in a panic as she felt the final tug of the binds against the wood above her head, and a moment later his face came into view.
“Lily?”
His face was so calm and his expression so in control. It was as infuriating as it was sexy as hell.
“Please, sir, don’t leave me here!” she whimpered as he settled against the side of her body. “I’m sorry I abandoned you yesterday, but please don’t.”
A part of Lily hated how pathetic she sounded at that moment, but there was no choice—she had no choice—and if this was the only chance she had to plead, then plead she would.
“Little one,” he crooned, and he actually smiled as he gazed down at her, waves of his sumptuous dark hair falling between their faces. “I am not going to leave you. I am never going to leave you. Didn’t I tell you to stop worrying?”
She gasped at his words, her mind still racing despite his assurances.
“Now,” he purred, tracing a finger along her exposed midriff as he continued. “All you need to do is lie back and listen. Can you do that?”
Lily nodded, though if truth be told, she was more than a little distracted by the path of his finger, which was right at that moment circling one, and then the next breast with soft caresses that made her want to pant.
“Yes,” she whispered in reply. “Yes, I can, sir.”
“Good.”
He was gone then, rising to stand beside the bed before he strode to the end climbing back onto the covers between her naturally splayed legs.
“The rules for today are really simple, Lily,” he told her in a tone that made her hips roll forward. It was as though he had hypnotized her body somehow, and now it was obeying his orders, and not her own. “Your job is two-fold.”
Their gazes locked as he edged closer toward her sex, his knees nudging her legs even wider as he went.
“You will endure for me whatever I choose to bestow upon you.”
Ethan’s words echoed around the small master bedroom as though they were an edict from the gods, and in a way, they were. Ethan was the closest thing Lily was ever likely to get to a god, especially now that she was effectively harboring him from the law, and as she eyed him between her thighs, she was struck by just how powerful the man seemed. All of a sudden, it was far too easy to imagine him extinguishing the lives of all those women. The potent combination of his charm, looks, strong muscular body, and his ability to know what others were thinking would have meant that none of them even had a chance.
Ethan was a predator.
She could see that now. Maybe he was even the perfect predator…
“And the second part of your job.”
The steel in his voice shattered Lily’s thought process, and she locked eyes with him again as he delivered his final verdict.
“Do you want to know what it is, little Lily?” he goaded, pressing his palms down at either side of her chest, and lowering his sculpted body over her soft skin.
She gasped as their flesh made contact, arching her back and squeezing her eyes closed as a spike of pleasure whipped through her. “Yes,” she panted with obvious need. “Yes, sir.”
“The second part is that you do not, under any circumstances, have my permission to come.”
Lily blinked her eyes open at him, certain that she must have misheard the man.
“No,” he told her with a soft, taunting laugh. “You didn’t mishear, beautiful. That is your punishment. I am going to keep you on the edge all fucking day, and you’re not going to be allowed even an ounce of pleasure.”

He couldn’t have her love by making her his prisoner, but fuck, it was tempting.
Too tempting.
And if it came to it, Ethan knew he could damn well try.

Saturday Spanking - Realizing what she needs

And we’re back for another Saturday Spankings here in the heat of the summer. I’m back to bring a snippet from my latest book, Returning to Us in the Back to Corbin’s Bend series. I’ve read most every book in this series and the idea of a public spanking has both horrified and fascinated me. How would you feel about this if you were actually faced with one?
In this post, I told about Susan’s blow-up. Now they are having to come before Brent and Charles to see if a public spanking is warranted. And Hal, who is just beginning to understand, tries to explain how he feels he failed Susan.

“What Susan’s tried over and over to tell me, is that discipline makes her feel safe. It gives her the freedom to be who she really is. She needed to know that there was a safety barrier, something to push against – like a guardrail. But instead of being firm and keeping her safe, I was like old rotten wood that she realized might give away at any second and leave her free-falling.”
Susan stared at Hal in wonder. He was explaining it so well. Better than she could have done.
“She’s tried over and over to tell me what she needed to feel safe and loved. What she needed to be a happy, healthy person. I was only providing dessert, when what she needed was a well-balanced meal.”
Hal stopped to look around the room. Quincy and Jason were nodding in agreement. Brent and Charles were both listening intently, but their faces didn’t show anything of what they might be feeling.
“I know I must seem incredibly slow to you all, but I’m finally getting it. And I’m sorry it’s taken me so damn long. But I do think I understand now and I’m asking that you please let me handle the punishment in private.”
