Saturday Spanking - Outrage

It’s a beautiful Saturday and we’re back with more snippets. I’m giving you a look into my latest, Searching for Home – fourth in the Cal’s Law series. As in many of my books I like to look into the realism of domestic discipline. Why some of us crave it, how it can easily be misunderstood by outsiders.

In today’s snippet, Allie’s eighteen-year-old brother walks in on a spanking and nearly attacks her husband. Allie’s father-in-Law, Tom, tries to explain.

Drew took a ragged breath and began again. “He had her down. He’d ripped some of her clothes off and he was hitting her and hitting her. She was crying and begging him to stop. What the hell was I supposed to do?”
“May I?” Tom asked, looking over at Ryan and then at Allie. They both nodded.
“I know what you saw. I can only imagine how angry you must be. But there are things you don’t understand. Have you ever heard of a domestic discipline relationship?”
Drew barely shook his head and Tom continued.
“In a domestic discipline relationship, there is one leader in the family, usually the man. It’s his job to protect his wife and keep her from harm. The wife in these marriages agrees to this leadership and to follow some basic rules.”
Drew wasn’t calming down any, but he was listening. “In a marriage like this,” Tom went on, “after much discussion and mutual agreement, the husband has the right, sometimes the responsibility, to spank his wife if she breaks those rules. Ryan wasn’t beating Allie, he was spanking her.”

Daryl Devoré - The Gift

The Gift

Daryl Devoré

 #sweet #romance #episodic #flashfiction

The Giftis my latest re-release. It‘s an whimsical episodic novella that was the final result of a flash fiction period I went through. I can be a bit long winded. I needed to learn to cut my word count. I joined a group that wrote a weekly story that was based on a limited number of 1,000 words and had to include some of the offered prompts. Some were words – extinct, a piece of paper with a single line on it, or the twelfth of never. Others were pictures – a red tulip, blue DNA or a kiss.
I realized this story was written similarly to stories that were printed weekly in the newspapers of old. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle presented Hounds of the Baskervilles this way – with weekly installments. Brilliant idea. The newspaper sales that would generate as people got into the story. So instead of adjusting to fit the story to more modern thinking, I left it in the episodic form.
There are elements of mystery, playfulness and romance which tie up at the very end. But I did leave a deliberate hole for the readers to fill. If you read the story and wish to discuss with me what you think was on the ground – daryl.devore@yhoo.caor @daryldevore.

Excerpt
Do you believe in magic? I am beginning to think I do. It can be the only possible explanation for my story?
~***~
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I turned to see who spoke while I wondered if he was addressing me. A man sat on a park bench, dressed in a dark suit, with a bowler hat, holding a cane and his head bowed. I shifted to continue along the path,  and when his face lifted I found myself gaping at two glowing green eyes.
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I blinked, trying to look away from those mesmerizing orbs. A mixture of fear and intrigue fluttered in my belly. "Uh, never. I mean, no one has ever offered me a tulip."
"A red tulip."
"Okay, no one has ever offered me a red tulip." Uneasiness slithered through me. "Nice chatting with you."
Smiling, I scurried down the path leading away from the park bench and towards the gardener's shed. With Jacobs being sick today, I had to hurry to get the last of the flower beds cleaned and prepared for spring plantings. The past winter had been bitter. It seemed tree branches and mouse damage wreaked havoc on every one of the one hundred and sixteen different flowerbeds.
I slipped my key into the lock, opened the shed door, stepped inside and shut it behind me. The fragrance of old wood, potting soil and gas fumes brought a tickle to the back of my throat. Closing my eyes, I allowed myself a moment to indulge in the beauty of his eyes. Emerald green. As brilliant as the gems locked among the diamonds at Tiffany's. Not that I shop there. Couldn't possibly afford anything on a junior gardener's salary, but I do fantasize when wandering the aisles.
What would it be like to be with a man like that? For those few moments in his presence, I was unable to think. My breath caught in my lungs. My palms were slick with beads of sweat. I shook my head, opened my eyes, and tugged the ever-present hair tie off my wrist. "Get over yourself, Darcy. A man like that wants a supermodel who can slink around on eight-inch heels. Not someone who digs in the dirt all day."

Darcy O'Calahann, a junior gardener from a small mid-western town, is trying to make her way in the big city. After a stranger asks a mysterious question, Darcy finds a red tulip inside her locked gardening shed.
Shamus McTavis is a wealthy bachelor with a mysterious family past. But more surprising is his resemblance to the stranger who offered her the red tulip.
Are Darcy's eyes playing tricks on her? Is she losing her mind? Or is there really a red tulip trying to link Shamus and her together?

Saturday Spankings - What she needs

Welcome to Saturday Spanking! It’s finally out! The fourth in the Cal’s Law series, Searching for Home is out and ready to read. This book contains two very hot couples – Cal and Jenny and Allie and Ryan. Jenny and Allie are close friends and share many of the same worries. Worries they don’t always want to share with their husbands.
Allie is having a particular hard time dealing with everything that’s going on. Ryan wants to help, but she’s shutting him out. His solution may give her exactly what she needs.

“All right, fine. You’re not hormonal. But you won’t tell me what’s bothering you. All you’re willing to do is yell at me and tell me to go to hell. So I say there’s a serious attitude adjustment needed.”
Allie glared at him defiantly, but her inner thoughts didn’t match her outward appearance. Finally, she thought to herself. She didn’t feel she could ask for a spanking, but she needed one so badly. Allie had never been a fan of discipline or punishment spankings. The vast majority of the spankings Ryan gave her were simply for fun, maybe a little sexy foreplay, but very rarely for serious reasons.
Over time, however, she realized that a serious spanking was sometimes needed. They were rare, but they were also, strangely enough, comforting. She needed to know that Ryan was there for her, as steady as a rock. She needed to struggle against him, she needed Ryan to win the struggle and spank her hard. She even craved the pain. The pain would push everything else aside, at least for a short time. She needed the ultimate surrender, the release, the tears, the aftercare, the reconnection – she needed it all. And from the look in Ryan’s eyes, she was definitely about to get it.

As I said, this is a stand-alone book, but if you'd like to get to know these people better, you can start here:

Saturday Spanking - What not to say

Another Saturday has rolled ‘round – welcome to Saturday Spankings! I expect my latest, Searching for Home, fourth in the Cal’s Law series to be available by this Friday. And I’ll have the link up as soon as it’s live. If you’ve read any of the Cal’s Law books you know that Cal's young and impetuous wife, Jenny, is liable to say anything and any time.
In today’s snippet we see that Jenny can get herself in trouble under even the best of circumstances!

Jenny increased the suction, taking time to run her tongue around the head. She could tell when he was nearly at his limit to hold on and she released him to quickly climb on top. Taking full control, she impaled herself on his shaft and pulling up, she repeated the action.
Cal pulled her tightly against him as he rolled them both over. Jenny gasped as he pounded into her again and again. She began arching and straining, eager to capture every bit of him.
Jenny felt the orgasm shooting through her body moments before Cal shuddered with his own release and they clung to one another. Slowly Cal pulled out, keeping Jenny in his embrace. They lay together, recovering. No words had been spoken during the entire encounter.
Quietly, into the darkness Jenny whispered, “Cal, is that you?”

As I said, this is a stand-alone book, but if you'd like to get to know these people better, you can start here:

Nine great authors - Vikings

NINE CONQUERING REASONS TO SURRENDER

Filled with action and suspense, this summer’s hottest beach read comes in the shape of Vikings!

Battle-hardened and broad-chested, with arms strong enough to sweep you off your feet, these warriors are pure muscle, with shoulders built for carrying you to bed.

Congratulations to the nine authors who've created this shared-world series of supreme alpha hotness: Ashe Barker, Lily Harlem, Felicity Brandon, Gianna Simone, Vanessa Brooks, Sassa Daniels, Sky Purington, Emmanuelle de Maupassant and Jane Burrelli.

A tiny Scottish settlement at the mercy of its enemies.
A harrowing bargain struck for nine fearful and reluctant brides.

Delivered into Viking hands, the brides of Achnaryrie now belong to their conquering masters but, as wedding nights bring surrender to duty, will fierce lovers also surrender their hearts?

The Highland wilderness is savage, life is perilous, and the future uncertain, but each Viking has sworn protection, and there are no lengths to which a man will not go to safeguard the woman he loves.

Against the forbidding backdrop of medieval Scotland, join these indomitable heroes and intrepid heroines as they discover that the raging storms of fear and passion can transform into enduring devotion.

Teaser snippets from the Prologue

The Vikings were merciless, murdering barbarians. And they were here.
With a despairing sob, Eithne turned from the sight below. She could still run, might be able to make it into the depths of the forest before the first of the raiders reached the village. She had perhaps a few minutes…

“To take up arms against men such as them would lead to certain death.”
“Better to die with honour—”
“Better still not to die at all. I have another idea. We shall negotiate.”

“By your presence here, I surmise you wish to speak with me.” He leaned down to murmur in her ear. “Or, if you prefer, there is still time to run for your life.”
“You would catch me,” she countered.
“Aye, probably.”
“And kill me.”
“It may not come to that.”

Intrigued, amused, and not a little astonished, Brandr folded his arms to regard her. “A bargain? You seek to bargain with me?”
“I do.”
The female held his gaze, an accomplishment which eluded many of his most hardened warriors. His respect for her audacity and fortitude nudged upwards. “Go on.”

Happy Reading

Saturday Spankings - Peek into my new book

Welcome to Saturday Spankings. It’s almost time!  Two weeks from now Searching for Home, the fourth in the Cal’s Law series, should be out available! This book includes many of the characters my readers have come to know well. Jenny and Cal, Allie and Ryan, Cassie and Tom and all their friends and family. And the best part is if you’ve never heard of any of these people, no problem. The book stands alone as well.

Let’s jump right in. Allie assumes she is the only one in the house when this happens…

The bastard had followed her! He'd come into her own home! The utter fury she'd felt since that morning seemed to surge into Allie's right arm and she rounded on him. "You son-of-a-bitch! I'll kick your ass!" she shouted as her fist plowed into his face so hard, he went down. With her right leg raised for a well-aimed kick, she heard Ryan shout, "Stop, stop! It's me!"
"What's happening?" came a shout from the other end of the house. With adrenalin still surging, Allie tried to refocus. She knelt down next to Ryan, helping him sit up.
He had his hands pressed to his face as he let out a loud, "Ow!"
Allie heard someone shout, "What's going on? Who's here?" Then another shout, "Allie, are you okay?"
She looked up to see Cassie and Sue charging down the hall. Cassie was in the lead, but it was Sue who was holding Allie's cast iron frying pan above her head.
"What happened? Is he still here?" Cassie was demanding, shouting above the music. Allie, ignoring her mother-in-law, was hovering over Ryan. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."
"Stop!" shouted Ryan above the din. "Allie, turn off the damn music," he commanded, and she hurried to comply.
She came back quickly and knelt beside Ryan as silence filled the house.
"What happened?" Cassie asked for the third time. "Did someone break in? They're not still here, are they?"
Ryan got to his feet. "Sue, will you put that damn thing down before you kill somebody?" Sue lowered the frying pan but still looked around warily.
"I guess I should be glad Allie wasn't holding it," Ryan said.
Allie gently pulled his arm down from his face so she could see the damage. It was bad.
His eye was swelling fast and she could see the angry-looking red skin that would eventually develop into a serious black eye.
"You did this?" Cassie asked Allie in a stunned voice.
