Saturday Spanking - Fight! Fight!

It’s Saturday again. We’re definitely seeing flashes of spring in my neck of the woods. They don’t last, but we see it coming. I’ve taken today’s snippet from On the River, the first book in my newest series.

The younger women asked if Cassie, Sue and Annie had always gotten along as well as they seem to now. They wanted to know if they ever fought. When Cassie and Sue began laughing the girls knew there was another story to hear. We’ll jump in here in the middle of their ‘discussion.’

“I’d heard all I was going to listen to,” Cassie continued. “I tried to control my anger, really I did. I told her she was lying and to shut her damn mouth and that Tom certainly did not beat me. ‘That’s absurd and you know it,’ I told her.

“Then she yelled, ‘He didn’t beat you? Sit down! I want to see you plop down in that chair.’

“I told her to get the hell out of my room. I was nearly growling.”

Cassie looked thoughtful as she went on. “I remember Sue saying something like, ‘I love you. You know that. But he’s hurting you. I can’t ignore that.’

“We had barely discussed spanking at that time. I mean she knew it occasionally happened, and of course there was what she’d witnessed on the cruise, but… Anyway, I told her something like, ‘Tom does not beat me. Our marriage is different. We do things our own way. I’m fine with it. You know we’re happy. Why are you doing this?’

“But she was right back at me, calling me a doormat. Then I remember exactly what she said.”

Cassie looked over at Sue who looked the slightest bit embarrassed. “She said to me,” Cassie went on, “‘He’s convinced you that he has the right to beat you and you’re such an idiot that you’ve bought into it. I can’t stand by and watch again. Tom’s no better than ...’”

Cassie paused, surveying her audience. “And that’s when she did it.

“She said my first husband’s name.

“It’s not a common one. I never hear it and I sure as hell never want to. I never mention him by name, he doesn’t deserve it. But she didn’t just say the name, she said it in the same breath as my wonderful Tom. She actually said that Tom was the same as … him!”

Cassie stopped and took a sip of her wine. She and Sue exchanged another look that none of the others could read.

Finally she went on. “I don’t know if she expected me to take a swing at her – the fool certainly should have. She should’ve run like hell. My fist caught her right in the nose and I remember she staggered backwards. Then she came at me. Her first punch split my lip and then, boy howdy, it was on! It was your typical girl fight after those first few blows. We knocked the cart with the food on it completely over. We were on the floor rolling, kicking, scratching, biting, head butting and hair pulling. Part of me wishes I had a video of the whole thing. I know we were a sight to behold.”

Cassie and Tom Duff live at The Landing, a beautiful neighborhood by the river in their little town in North Carolina. You’ll find a unique community on the river - dominant men, strong women, intense love and loyal friendships. Most of the couples here live a domestic discipline lifestyle where the husbands are the head of the household. It can’t be said that these ladies always follow their husbands’ lead and the men often have their hands full trying to keep up with their fun-loving and headstrong wives. Spanking is part of their lives, but usually it’s for the sexy fun of it all … usually.

This first book in a new series by PK Corey follows the funny, quirky and romantic escapades of Cassie and her friends, Sue and Annie, as well as the younger generation who are all involved in solving a problem from Cassie’s past.

  1. Great snippet PK. Isn't it funny that this fight happened because Cassie and Sue are fierce friends and love each other. Sue was trying to protect Cassie, but she made a fatal mistake.

  3. It's also interesting that in trying to protect Cassie, Sue did more injury to her friend that Tom ever would or could. Great snippet, PK.

    1. Cassie said later that the irony was not lost on them. Sue beating Cassie up for not leaving a man she feared was beating her up.

  4. I loved this in the book. It proves that a wonderful friendship outlasts ups and downs in life. It helped Sue realize, once again, Cassie was no shrinking violet. She could take care of herself! Lol!
