Happy Saturday, I hope to get around to everyone today, but I have a house full of relatives for our family reunion all day today and tomorrow. I’m so excited about the fourth Cassie book coming out before long. The working title is Cassie’s River Living and we’re working to get it ready to go. I’ll be starting some snippets from that book soon, but for today I’m sticking with book two, Cassie's Tale.
Tom quickly returned from his trip after talking to Sue and hearing her version of what all had gone on. He won’t discuss any of it with Cassie that evening, but at breakfast the next morning he lays down a set of rules and restriction that has Cassie reeling with her total loss of freedom, and once again Cassie proves she doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut.
“You have lost your mind,” I stated simply. “I know what you’re thinking, you’re dragging up ancient history and you need to stop. I don’t sleep well when you’re away, and I tried to fix that. I guess I could have just stayed awake for a few more days,” I told him sarcastically. “I’m sorry I scared Sue and I’m sorry she tattled to you and made you come home early. I’m sorry I broke your stupid rule. And I’m sorry I had a damn glass of wine while you were gone, but if you think I’m putting up with all this foolishness, you’ve got another think coming.”
Tom moved fast for a big man, he pulled me from my seat and over to the island before I could protest. Taking the wooden spoon from the drawer he let loose a fast flurry of swats that had me dancing on my toes.
There are three Cassie books now (soon to be four!) - I hope you'll read them all.
Meet Cassie, a former wild child, who meets her match, and creates the match of a lifetime. To nearly all who know her now, Cassie is a vivacious, sweet southern lady, who is the epitome of grace and proper behavior. Look a tiny bit closer and you’ll see that Cassie has another side – the one whose language could make a sailor blush as she drinks him under the table.
Thanks to her loving husband Tom, who even after thirty years of marriage, never hesitates to put Cassie over his knee when she strays too far from his view of ladylike behavior, few people other than close old friends know this side of Cassie exists.
Cassie and Tom show that love and passion are not the sole property of the young. Love and passion grows and changes with age. While aging may bring on challenges – the love and passion between these two people only grows stronger.
Cassie continues to live life to the fullest, from wheeling around in her new sports car to mastering the art of riding a motor scooter with no hands, she manages to keep Tom on his toes. The fly in the ointment is that Tom’s firm wants him back for a project and Cassie wants him all to herself. When Tom takes the job, Cassie is left lonely and bored – never a good combination for her.
Left to her own devices Cassie makes some poor decisions, frightening Sue and causing Tom to lower the boom. Tom's new schedule for Cassie, including her getting a job, leaves her little time to get herself in trouble – yet she still manages.
Cassie’s on the move and loving life. Through paint ball game in the woods and water park adventure she’s gets to know her new neighbors as the new house is renovated.
Cassie is traveling too, from trips with just the girls, to conventions, vacations, and cruises with Tom and friends, she's always ready for the next adventure. But when Cassie begins having dizzy spells Tom thinks a slower pace is in order. Getting Cassie to slow down and take care of herself proves to be quite a challenge. A challenge Tom is more than determined to take on.
Check all the other great snippets out here today.
I'm liking Tom... he assesses the situation and he acts on it. Too bad that someone's really, really, REALLY been a naughty girl :)ReplyDelete
That's Tom all over - now Cassie is never really naughty, things just seem to get away from her sometimes.Delete
Goodness I love Cassie's backbone. So well written, PK!ReplyDelete
Thanks Emily. She rarely intimidated, but learning when to keep her mouth shut wouldn't hurt sometimes.Delete
I believe Cassie is to be admired for something a little lower than her backbone.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul, you are so bad!Delete
It sounds like Tom took Cassie in hand. I feel bad for Cassie's back side.ReplyDelete
Me too Meredith, it won't get better any time soon either.Delete
Cassie knows what to expect from Tom and it matters not to her until after she's brought to task. lolReplyDelete
And I'm guessing it will always be this way.Delete
Sassy girl, of course she had it coming. ☺ReplyDelete
Cassie wouldn't agree - she'd be perfectly happy to blame everything on Sue or the fact that Tom is unreasonable.Delete
Gotta love those ladies who are hard to tame :)- It isn't fun when it is easy!ReplyDelete
Tom's been working to tame her for almost forty years. I'm guessing it's not going to happen.Delete
Nothing like a fast and flurrious spanking in the kitchen with a spoon. Very nice and has a good beat to dance to.ReplyDelete
True! But Cassie dose hate that heavy wooden spoon.Delete
I love love the mental image of being spanked hard enough to dance...ReplyDelete
Sometimes a girl just can't help it.Delete
Tom is always consistent. He is like the perfect HoH. Can he give some advice to Ty?ReplyDelete
If Tom gave lessons, I'd have Nick enrolled already! Best thing about writing, the HOH is exactly how you want him to be (not that I could be married to Tom in real life though.)Delete
Ouch, poor Cassie, but she never learns to keep her mouth shut! I love that about her.ReplyDelete
Tara, I do too! Gotta love a woman who speaks her piece regardless of the consequences.Delete
You would think Cassie would know what NOT to say by now LOL I love her sassiness, she is so much fun!ReplyDelete
Megan, she certainly knows what not to say, she KNOWS. But she says it anyway and I do love her for it.Delete
Poor Cassie. She can't help it if she can't control her mouth. Great snippet! :)ReplyDelete
Thanks Constance, Cassie (and I) would agree. She does try - sometimes.Delete
Goodness, that was brave of Cassie! I just love her feistynesss and how consistent Tom is. Then again, he needs to be! LoLReplyDelete
LOL Roz, I guess it's true, he really does. I think many of us would love some of this consistency.Delete
Got to watch those fast movers!ReplyDelete
Unfortunately that fast mover is the one usually doing the watching!Delete
She sure is a bit of a handful- that Cassie!! :) Sounds like your weekend was a wonderful event! Many hugs,ReplyDelete
I agree Cassie can be a handful, Tom would agree too.Delete
My weekend was great.
