Saturday Spankings - Who will win the war?

Welcome back to Saturday Spankings. I have a snippet today from Suspicions on the River. Cassie and the girls have taken a trip to the beach and the younger women have Cassie telling another story from her past.

This story was about a convention she and Tom attended. Cassie had make Tom angry by leaving the room several times without telling him where she was going. After spanking her twice for the same things, he lays down the law and tells her she can’t leave the room the next day until his meeting are over and he comes back to the room. Cassie is furious. She goes over plan after plan of how to sneak out for a short time – just to make a stand for independence, but to still do it behind Tom’s back. She took her shower, muttering and cussing, as Tom got ready to head to his meetings, again reminding her to stay put.

“But when I got out of the shower, I was surprised to find only two small hand towels. They barely dried me and I headed to the phone to call housekeeping. As soon as I opened the bathroom door I knew something was wrong. The bed had been stripped. At the foot of the bed were several more small towels and a note that read,

‘I felt you needed some encouragement to do as I said. Perhaps this will help.
Tom’

“I couldn’t figure out what was he talking about. I looked for my robe, but it wasn’t on the chair. When I opened the closet door realization finally dawned on me. Everything was gone, my clothes, Tom’s clothes, everything. There was not one thing for me to put on. The bed was stripped and I didn’t even have a towel that would go around me. I was a naked captive!”

All three girls howled with laughter as Allie added, “Tom is the smartest man in the world! He does know how to make you behave.”

“I wasn’t so impressed,” Cassie told them. “I was thinking, Oh no, he is not doing this to me! I marched to the phone to call housekeeping only to stare at it stupidly. The receiver was in my hand but the cord connecting it to the phone was gone. Truly that sneaky, brilliant devil had thought of everything. There was no possible way for me to leave the room. I went into the small living room. There was a room service cart – the normal tablecloth was missing and it was sitting there with several covered trays. I was still simply dumbfounded. Lifting one covered dish, I found delicious looking pastries and another note from Tom. If I remember correctly it said something like,

‘As you sit today, planning my demise, I’ll be thinking of my lovely, totally nude wife waiting for my return. Our morning was amazing and I hope we will end our day the same way. You have had to care for yourself for so long. I know it’s hard for you to let go, but I’ll keep you safe and loved if you’ll just relax and let me. I’ve told Sue you wanted the day to yourself. She doesn’t believe me and will surely come looking for your body at some point. I’m hoping you'll go along with what I’ve told her.

Tom’

“Now back then I had a temper you wouldn’t believe. But the longer I’d been married to Tom the shorter the length of time I could hold on to it. I was mad, how dare he leave me like that. But the longer I thought about it the more ridiculous the situation seemed. I had to laugh. Score one for Tom, his devious mind had won this battle. The winner of the war was still undecided – actually, it still is, but that battle was his."

Saturday Spankings - Leaving

Welcome to Saturday Spankings. I’m continuing with snippets from my latest, Suspicions on the River.

Once again the ladies are off on a girls’ trip. Though they love their husbands dearly, they love their short trips with just the girls. Not all the husbands feel the same way.

There was quite a crowd to bid the ladies farewell at Cassie’s Sunday morning. Jake took Lane over and helped store her bag in the car top luggage carrier on Sue’s car.

“I wouldn’t have thought you could get six women and all their crap into one car,” Jake muttered.

Cassie overheard. “We couldn’t if Sue didn’t always insist on driving the largest car known to man. But it does come in handy at times,” she admitted.

There was much kissing and hugging. Ryder and Sophie were standing with Lily and Henry when Ryder asked, “Are they always like this? The guys are acting like the women are leaving on a world tour. They’ll be home on Thursday, right?”

Lily smiled. “The menfolk don’t like it one bit. But Missy and Miss Priss seem to have to do this ever’ now and then and they want all the womenfolk together.”

“Why aren’t you and Sophie going then?” he asked.

“Cuz we got better sense,” Lily told him firmly.

Sophie grinned and nodded. “Lily’s right. Here we’ve got the river, fishing and swimming. Granddad says he’ll take us skiing. I can play with Christian and Willow. And…” Sophie stopped herself, blushing slightly. “…lots of things,” she finished lamely. Ryder was definitely one of the reasons she wanted to stay back at The Landing.

Finally the women were piling into the car and they pulled away with Allie driving. Lily, always keenly aware of her family and how they were feeling, watched the men. Cal, Ryan and Jake were laughing and talking together. But that wasn’t true for Tom, Steve and Andy.  They all stood silently looking down the road to where the car had disappeared, each looking as if the light had gone from the day.

Saturday Spankings - I don't think you should spank me

Welcome to Saturday Spankings – I hope you are having a happy Easter or Passover. Today'e snippet, once again is from my latest book, Suspicions on the River.

Last week Cal was worried about the break in at Pat’s. When he came home and found Jenny drunk and mad about what she had heard Pat and her friends talking about. Cal can’t help wondering if Jenny had anything to do with trashing Pat’s apartment. He let Jenny sleep late the next day – but that afternoon he came home to talk with her.

“Hey,” he answered. “How you feeling?”

“Better, but not so great. I guess you’re pretty mad.”

“I am,” he answered. But he didn’t sound angry. “You drank a lot Jenny, enough to be dangerous. What I want to know is why?”

She had already decided to tell him the whole truth. “I overheard a bunch of women talking in the Vintage yesterday. They were telling Pat what a horrible marriage we have. That all we do is fight. And you’ll be tossing me out on my ass anytime now. They told her I’d tricked you into marrying me and if she just stayed around long enough, she could easily get you back. Pat seemed to like the idea just fine.”

Cal gave her an intense look. Finally he asked, “You heard all this yesterday at lunch?”

Jenny nodded.

“I guess you were pretty pissed,” Cal said, looking at her keenly.

“Yeah, you might say so,” she answered.

Cal hated where his mind was going. His beautiful, fiery wife hearing all that… could she have? Would she have?

“Cal? What is it?” she asked. “You’ve got a weird look on your face.”

“Do you remember what I told you about Pat last night?” Cal wanted to know.

“No,” Jenny said coldly. “I don’t remember us talking about her. What?”

“Her apartment was broken into yesterday afternoon and trashed.”

They stood staring at one another as Jenny absorbed the information. As realization dawned on her, it was as though fire shot from her eyes.

“And you think I did it? You son-of-a-bitch!”

“I never said that. I…” Cal began.

Jenny’s cold anger seemed worse to Cal than when she’d been yelling and throwing things at him. “I never went near that bitch’s apartment. I don’t even know where it is. And you should know that without me having to tell you. Maybe she trashed it herself just to have a reason to call you. Did you ever think of that?”

When Cal went to Jenny and pulled her into a tight embrace she burst into tears. “I know you didn’t do it. I believe you. But my job means I have to think of everything from the obvious to the ridiculous.”

All the fight seemed to leave Jenny, as she pressed herself against Cal. “I guess I might have done it if I’d thought about it,” Jenny admitted, only half kidding. “What I did was go running. I ran for over five miles then I came home and started drinking. And I don’t think you should spank me for it.”

Cal was surprised that she was calming down so quickly. “You don’t think you deserve a spanking for downing more than a six-pack by yourself?”

“No, I don’t. Now if I start doing it once a week, maybe. But once every four or five years…”

Cal let go, stepping out onto the porch and put out the privacy flag. He didn’t expect Ryder at lunchtime, but he didn’t want the boy walking in on anything. Going back in, he took Jenny’s hand and led her to the bedroom.
